Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Ohio Sen. JD Vance are set to square off in their first and only scheduled vice presidential debate, which comes just over over a month before the 2024 election.
The debate on Oct. 1 looks to be the last one between members of the Democratic and Republican tickets, and it comes just a few weeks after Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump faced each other in their only debate.
Tuesday night’s debate is Vance and Walz’s chance to speak to a wide TV audience, as a hotly contested presidential race enters the home stretch.
Here’s how to watch and what to know.
What time is the debate?
The 90-minute event begins at 9 p.m. ET at the CBS Broadcast Center in Manhattan, New York.
Where you can watch the Walz-Vance debate?
The debate is being hosted by CBS News, so it will broadcast live on CBS and streamed live on the CBS YouTube channel.
NBC, CNBC, MSNBC and Peacock will also be carrying the debate live, along with CNN, C-SPAN, ABC, Fox News and PBS.
Who are the moderators?
“CBS Evening News” anchor Norah O’Donnell and “Face the Nation” host Margaret Brennan will be the moderators.
What are the debate rules?
The debate will be similar to the Trump-Harris debate, with a key difference. There will not be a live audience in the studio, but the microphones for each candidate will not be muted when the other is speaking.
O’Donnell and Brennan will have the ability to mute Walz and Vance’s mics at any time.
In the Trump-Harris debate, neither candidate could interject when their rival was speaking because their mics were muted.
