Many regions of Spain could be set for a cold snap with temperatures plunging into the low single digits, new weather maps show.

The icy charts from show the mercury plunging in many regions, with northern and central parts of set to experience particularly chilly conditions.

In the northern regions, cities like Valladolid and Salamanca will wake up to a chilly morning, with hovering around 5C.

Further north, Bilbao and Zaragoza will also see the mercury drop to around 10C, a big difference from the usual mild .

In central Spain, including , temperatures are expected to be around 12C during the early hours.

This may come as a shock to many, considering that daytime highs in the Spanish capital often remain between 20C and 25C in October.

Even in the typically warmer southern regions of the country, including Seville and Malaga, where temperatures tend to stay pleasant throughout autumn, this cold front will bring noticeable changes.

Seville will drop to 13C, while Malaga will see minimums of around 16C, though they remain higher compared to other parts of the country.

The typically scorching Valencia will also feel the chill, with early morning temperatures plummeting to 19C.

Experts from suggest that while October is usually a month of transition in Spain, marking the end of summer and the start of autumn, this year’s abrupt cold front is somewhat unusual.

Typically, October brings mild temperatures and sunny , making it a popular time for visitors.

However, this forecasted cold snap is likely to send temperatures tumbling across the country.

Despite the cold snap, many regions will still enjoy moderate temperatures during the day, but the early morning hours will certainly feel frosty.
