‘Ideal’ location in your home for peace lilies to thrive in winter and repeat flower

All have their own needs, and a peace lily is no different, liking certain temperatures and disliking others.

When cared for correctly, plants can bloom for several months at a time, with repeat blooming also possible.

According to the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), they like consistent warm and moderate humidity.

This makes the an “ideal” location for them, especially heading into the months.

Very dry air can cause leaf browning, according to the pros, so make sure to keep them away from hot radiators and cold draughts.

To help keep them happy, mist peace lilies regularly or stand them on a tray of damp gravel.

Whilst houseplants don’t need regular watering in the winter months, checking on them weekly and deciding is the best option.

If the soil is slightly damp still, they don’t need watering but it’s important to never let the soil dry out too much or become too wet.

When it comes to watering, the gardening pros recommended rainwater as peace lilies can be sensitive to tap.

The experts said: “The roots can rot if the compost is damp for long periods, so take care not to overwater.

“For good growth and repeat flowering, feed every two weeks from spring to autumn.

“Wipe the leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust and improve photosynthesis.”

It may also be worth moving the plant from its summer location soon to ensure they get enough light.
