Caz declared affirmatively: “Whatever happens, Chris is a true strictly winner. I’m so glad Dianne is his partner.”

On today, Dianne expressed her excitement about working with Chris, posting a photo from their recent performance with the caption: “What a LEGEND full stop.”

In response, Chris lauded her, saying: “You are a superstar! Sorry about my banana fingers – #WinningIsntEverything.”

Chris, a West Derby native who has been cracking jokes on the stand-up circuit since 2003, was born with a genetic condition known as retinitis pigmentosa (RP) which led to the loss of his sight at the young age of 22. Originally a web designer, Chris turned to comedy when his vision worsened, leaving his internet career behind.

In a candid conversation with the ECHO back in 2016, he relayed: “When I finished uni I focused on designing websites, but then my eyesight started deteriorating and I had enough. I knocked it on the head and tried to find something else to do. I was unemployed for maybe a year and a half and in the end I got a job doing business sales. It was really, really boring stuff – just filling the time until I figured out what I properly wanted to do.”

At the age of 26, a bout with shingles put him out of work for a fortnight, leading to a pivotal moment of boredom-induced bravery. He shared: “Then, when I was 26, I got shingles and was signed off from work for two weeks. I was bored out of my head and as a dare from myself I decided to have a go at stand-up.”
