Former Tory MP Miriam Cates has called for sex education to be scrapped as a subject at school to protect children from dangerous ideologies.

She also accused the of failing to resist the radicalisation of children when it comes to gender issues.

When asked about safeguarding issues at schools, Ms Cates said: “I would scrap relationships and sex education as a subject. The purpose of schools is to teach knowledge and skills. You’re teaching things that have stood the test of time. Shakespeare has stood the test of time. Somebody who wrote a book last week has yet not stood the test of time. It’s the same with science that’s proven in fact, or maths. There’s a cannon of literature.
