the host of , was taken aback when he discovered he had previously met the father of one of the contestants.

The quiz show welcomed four hopefuls to the stage during one episode, including Ashley, who planned to use any winnings to house his game collection.

Ashley, donning a beige shirt and a broad grin, chatted with Walsh about his work and pastimes.

He shared that his day job involves converting old renewable batteries into energy storage, a revelation that left Bradley astounded.

Ashley clarified that his work is environmentally friendly and mentioned that he resides in East Harling, Norfolk, reports .

However, he originally hails from Cromer, where his father serves as the lighthouse keeper, a place where he spent much of his youth.

Bradley suddenly realised: “I’ve met your dad! Fourteenth hole […] Cromer! I always used to slice my shot up the fair way and end up in your garden!”.

Ashley laughed and replied: “We’ve had a couple through the window!”.

Bradley enthused: “I don’t doubt that! Beautiful part of the world,” to which Ashley concurred, calling it the “nicest spot in Cromer”.

Ashley then revealed his hobby of metal detecting, earning praise from Bradley who asked about his most exciting finds.

Ashley confessed to discovering “some Roman and Celtic stuff dating back 2000 years,” as well as a “nice diamond and gold engagement ring”.

The contestant expressed his desire to use the winnings to “convert his garage into a geek den” as he “collects old retro games consoles” and currently has “currently no where to put them”.

He then participated in the cash builder round, earning an impressive £4,000.

However, Bradley quickly stepped in to inform him that the adjudicator had accepted one of his “incorrect” answers, increasing the prize fund to £5,000.

The contestant, Ashley, was taken aback by the news and seemed quite pleased with himself before proceeding to face the chaser.

Although he hoped to face Anne Hegarty, it was who was chosen to challenge him.

The Chase airs at 5pm on ITV and ITVX on weekdays.
