The quality Royal Stewart tartan comes in various colours, and in theory, it cannot be worn without the permission of a British monarch. However, due to its popularity, the Scottish Register of Tartans has stated that in practice, it has become a universal tartan which can be worn by anyone.
And tartan wasn’t the only homage to Scottish culture within Camilla’s much-adored outfit. The Queen accessorised her regal outfit with from Queen Elizabeth II’s collection.
The glittering Diamond Thistle Brooch originally belonged to Queen Mary – the wife of King George V – and was passed down to her granddaughter the late Queen Elizabeth II after her death.
Widely regarded as the national emblem of Scotland, author Sir Walter Scott chose the thistle as a symbol for when King George IV visited the country in 1882.

Camilla has worn the dazzling brooch on her previous visits to Scotland, while the late Queen was spotted wearing it on numerous occasions.
King Charles paid tribute to his Scottish roots by wearing a bespoke tartan designed just last year by The Scottish Tartans Authority to the anniversary celebration.
The colourful pattern included light green, navy blue and pale red running through the wool, and the kilt, called ‘The King Charles III tartan’ was specially designed to mark one year since his coronation.
During their visit to Edinburgh, King Charles and Queen Camilla were met by presiding officer Alison Johnstone and deputy presiding officers Liam McArthur and Annabelle Ewing.
