Queen Camilla has some surprising food habits
may be consort to and have access to the most intricate cuisines in the world but may come as a surprise to many with one of her favourites coming from a much loved supermarket.
In a recent interview with Camilla’s son, , has given insight into his mothers go to food options and cooking habits.
Chicken Kiev’s are a staple dinner choice for many people across the country but it may come as a surprise that Camilla is also a fan and “is not entirely immune to the allure of prepared meals”.
Her son said: “When chicken kievs came to Sainsbury’s, I think we had chicken kievs every night for about five months.”
Tom Parker Bowles, has given insight into his mother’s go to food options and cooking habits
Tom praised his mother for being a “good cook” and making “totally normal, nice food”.
“My mother was a good cook. Totally normal, nice food, watching The Fall Guy with shepherd’s pie, you know. Shepherd’s pie and peas and The Fall Guy. Or The Dukes of Hazzard, or Metal Mickey, said Tom.
He praised his “mother’s roast chicken” adding that the family would get their peas and strawberries from the garden.
Tom recalled that he was met with a stern “no” when asking his mother for white bread leading him to go round his friend Jake’s house to have white bread and coke.

Speaking about the foods that weren’t allowed in his childhood, he said: “We grew up eating locally, seasonally and organically, way before they became the overused buzzwords they are today – my mother shopped in the butcher, fishmonger, bakery and greengrocer. But when Sainsbury’s opened in Chippenham at the start of the 80s it was like that moment in The Wizard of Oz where it moves from monochrome to technicolour.
“Ice Magic! Birds Eye Chicken Pies! Butterscotch Angel Delight and huge variety packs of Monster Munch! We wanted it all, although my mother was fairly strict in what we were allowed.”
