Jon Richardson and Lucy Beaumont announced their split earlier this year
Lucy Beaumont, self-described as a “small, feral woman”, has charmed many with her sharp northern wit and fearless comedic style. The Hull-born star spent years entertaining audiences alongside her ex-partner Jon Richardson in the popular Dave series Meet the Richardsons, which she also co-wrote, and presenting ‘Jon and Lucy’s Odd Couples’ on Channel 4.
However, Lucy has now said goodbye to her long-term comedy partnership both on and off stage. With new projects including a podcast with a former Taskmaster contestant and her own stand-up tour ‘Lucy Beaumont Live’, the comedian is forging ahead.
Having recently celebrated her 41st birthday, OK! asked if life feels any different for her now.
She responded simply: “I don’t feel any different really. Just a bit angrier and not willing to take any s**t from anyone.”

Although Lucy isn’t exactly a newcomer, her fame has soared in the 12 years since her New Comedy Award win. However, it was her role in the Bafta-nominated Meet the Richardsons that significantly boosted her profile.
Despite her small screen success, it’s clear that her true love is stand-up comedy.
“Live shows are unbeatable, there’s nothing like it because it’s so immediate. And each show is totally different. You can sort of get the same reaction because they’re well bedded-in shows, but each audience has a different personality it’s mad, and really fascinating. You can say something off hand and it can be the best gag of the show you just don’t get that with TV! “.

However, she remains tight-lipped about her , which they announced in April. When probed about her current emotions, Lucy politely refrains from going into detail.
“People might think I should talk about it because we were so public and everyone knew us as a couple, but I won’t, and not because there’s any animosity,” she clarifies. “We both agreed that while it might be weird for other people not hearing anything about it, we wouldn’t talk about anything to do with the marriage or each other.”
On the other hand, Lucy’s bold approach to comedy won her accolades on Channel 4’s Taskmaster, where she shared the screen with Sam Campbell, Sue Perkins, Julian Clary, and Susan Wokoma. Her stint on the show, a blend of game show and light-hearted contest, led to her being labelled as “simultaneously the worst and best contestant ever” on .

“That sums me up nicely! ” she chuckles. “I was just being myself really.”
After finishing the mockumentary-style show ‘Meet the Richardsons’, the actress has drawn a line at reality TV, emphatically stating: “No, no, no, never ever,” and adding, “I find something a bit apocalyptic about them! I’m a bit over reality TV.”
She further shared her true passion: “My goal is to create a sitcom, and I hope to perform in theatre, which is where I started before comedy. Although I didn’t make much money from it, the experiences you have while pursuing your goals shape who you are, and for me, that was teaching. I’m sure I’ll go back to that someday too.”
