made up of dirt, oil and tarmac which will likely become stuck to the glass after regular use.
Although apparently similar, Scotty has warned there are different types of screenwash with motorists at risk if they use the wrong solution at this time of the year.
Screenwash designed for use in the summer is popular but continuing to use the solution as the nights draw in and temperatures dip could be dangerous.
Motorists must use the correct solutions to avoid causing damage
Winter screenwash contains higher levels of Anti-Freezing Agents which protect vital parts and stop cars from becoming damaged.
Scotty suggested road users should ensure they use the winter solution as much as they can to prevent being caught out this Autumn,
, Scotty said: “Today I’m going to show you why you want to use the winter windshield fluid even in the summer.

“It can crack your windshield wiper motor that’s hiding in there, that costs money. It can crack the lines that feed it and it can even crack your little squirter nozzles.
“So if you’re like me, use the winter stuff even in the summer. Then when winter comes you don’t have to remember to change it.”
According to experts at , cracks will usually cause the fluid to leak.
However, a cracked washer fluid tank usually can’t be repaired meaning motorists will have to splash out for a replacement.
This could be a major blow to cash-strapped road users who could be hit with a sizeable bull towards the end of the year.
Motorists were quick to praise Scotty for the vital tip while some admitted to having been impacted by the issue in the past.

@robertnimmo5954 added: “Learned this the hard way years ago.”
@jbzzey explained: “That’s why the windshield washer hoses broke on one of my old cars.”
