Demand plummets after the and industry-wide promotions are live between January and March – a period known as “wave season”.
Timing it right may , but it doesn’t solve the common dilemma of which room to book on the ship.
Picking can be a daunting task, with a myriad of options from luxurious penthouse suites to cosy interior cabins on offer.

There are many different cabin-types to choose from
Dave urged: “Do some cabin research. It’s no secret that some cruise ships are huge, and where your cabin is located on the ship is crucial.”
He noted: “Bigger cruise ships often have everything from theatres, bars, restaurants and even nightclubs. Some people want to be close to the action, whereas others may want a quieter stay.”
For those in search of tranquillity aboard their floating hotel, seasoned cruisers suggest booking a cabin sandwiched between other staterooms to avoid the bustle and early morning noise from crew setting up on the pool deck.
Dave also advised: “You’re going to want to look at the deck plan and book a cabin that’s right for you.”

The cruise maestro elaborated: “An inside cabin is almost always cheaper, so this is a great option for those who are looking to save money or don’t plan to spend a lot of time in their room, whereas others will want an oceanview suite.”
While interior cabins are typically the most budget-friendly choice, Dave acknowledges some travellers may find them slightly stifling.
Cruise cabins can occasionally have a less-than-fresh aroma since opening windows isn’t an option, but fear not, as there are affordable solutions to ensure a pleasant-smelling room throughout your journey.
In the pursuit of the perfect seafaring accommodation, Dave suggests, “Have a browse for the type of cabin you’d like and if you aren’t sure which cabin is right for you, an expert agent will be able to help you choose the best cabin at the best value.”
Opportunistic holidaymakers might snag an upgrade on the cheap if there’s unsold inventory aboard the cruise.
For those with a penchant for quick access to food, booking a room adjacent to the ship’s buffet is favourable; however, caution is advised due to a recent furore over a guest’s failure to observe buffet etiquette.
