Navigating the plethora of products on supermarket shelves can be a daunting task. Without some trial and error, it’s tricky to separate the best products from those worth skipping out on.

But it seems one food expert is now here to help, having unveiled a number of game-changing Tesco health foods available at astonishingly low prices. Imogen Hassard, a registered nutritionist, claimed her favourite products were completely ‘underrated’ even though they ‘prioritise’ protein and gut health.

Posting on (), she first unveiled a ‘perfect plant-based milk’, praising it for a lack of ‘nasties’, referring to less than healthy additives. “Four ingredients: coconut, sea salt, rice milk [and] water,” , while taking a snap of the ‘Rude Health’ branded carton.

“Lots of plant-based milks are full of added sugar, preservatives and oils. Look for ones with minimal ingredients.”

Moving on to a breakfast option, Imogen picked up another, smaller carton labelled ”. Albeit small, this container is packed with 15 free-range egg whites, meaning it’s absolutely packed with protein.

Crucially, it also claims to be free from cholesterol and fat – making it perfect for speedy but healthy omelette-making. Imogen added: “Add to omelettes, scrambled eggs and fried eggs. Easy way to get protein in without eating 10 eggs.”

Imogen’s suggestion comes as more than two in five people in England suffer from high cholesterol, according to . Although it’s often symptomless, high cholesterol significantly increases your risk of developing heart disease – .

Aside from the eggy mixture, Imogen recommended another product for its cholesterol benefits too. This was ‘Linwoods Flaxseex, Biocultures and Vitamin D’ packet, which she suggests stirring into oats or yoghurt.

“Rich in micronutrients and fibre,” she said, giving it a tick for lowering bad cholesterol and helping with digestion. “It’s 2024, we care about micros as well as macros.”

Although Imogen listed several more products, including Halo Top’s 90-calorie chocolate and Princes drained tuna steak, one that especially stood out was a potential £2.75 ‘Diet Coke’ alternative. Taking a snap of a pink-labelled bottle, she raved about the benefits of ‘Kombucha’ which is ‘rich in live microorganisms’ and is ‘great for gut health’.

“Great alternative to sugary fizzy drinks,” she added. Unsurprisingly, Imogen’s suggestions have garnered plenty of attention on , with various users chiming in with their own thoughts.

One person wrote: “Nice selection more realistic than others,” as someone else said: ” I get the Rude Health milk exactly for this reason!” Another also added: ” I eat most of these products.”
