Myles Lewis-Skelly was bowled over when brought face-to-face with Dan Burn on duty. Rather than being starstruck by the star, youngster Lewis-Skelly was mesmerised by their height difference, which the Three Lions photographer pounced on to capture some memorable snaps.

Lewis-Skelly is not exactly a pushover himself. Standing at 5ft 10in tall, the 18-year-old has impressed Gunners fans with his physicality this season, and he has proved more than capable of handling the demands of the . But 6ft 7in Burn towered over him, just as he does with just about every other player, when they met at St. George’s Park.

Staggered by Burn’s height, Lewis-Skelly said in a posted to England’s social media channels: “Nah, this is too much! Oh my goodness. This is a joke.” Burn made light of the situation by replying: “Everyone gets it, mate.”

Despite being 14 years older than Lewis-Skelly, the Newcastle defender is also taking part in his first England camp. And the call-up could hardly have come amid happier circumstances, with Burn scoring the opener for his boyhood club in the Magpies’ euphoric Carabao Cup win on Sunday.

While there were niceties between Burn and Lewis-Skelly in their first meeting, they may have to get their elbows out in training if they end up competing for the same starting spot.

Burn has primarily played as a centre-back this season but he could be moved to left-back by Thomas Tuchel, where England are comparatively short on options. Lewis-Skelly has excelled in that position for Arsenal this campaign, and he will be one of the leading contenders to get the nod against Albania on Friday.

Lewis Hall and Luke Shaw would otherwise have been in the equation if it wasn’t for injuries, while current squad members Levi Colwill and Tino Livramento can also fill in if required.

Although Burn’s call-up raised eyebrows, particularly at this stage of his career, Newcastle legend Alan Shearer is convinced he has what it takes to succeed at international level.

“I would love to see big Dan Burn make his England debut this week and maybe he can find the Wembley net for his country as well as his club,” he wrote for . “To be called up by England, then scoring at Wembley for Newcastle to win them the cup is dreamland for him.”
