are likely to hammer Britain as the latest show a number of cities and counties covered under snow as spring begins to settle in. WXCharts maps for March 28 and 29 suggest that three cities and five counties in England and Scotland may experience , with temperatures plummeting to even -1C.

The weather maps suggest that the cities of Inverness, Glasgow, and Durham are most likely to experience cold conditions by the end of this month. The lowest temperatures will be seen in Scotland, with mercury levels falling to -1C in the Scottish Highlands, the maps have suggested. The counties of Highland, Dumfries and Galloway, Northumberland, Cumbria and Durham will be witness to snow flurries while some other areas remain drenched in rain.

The dramatic weather maps come days after some areas in the country could possibly see the beginning of warm temperatures.

According to the weather experts, London could see a high of 22C this week, either on Wednesday or Thursday.

Brian Gaze, founder of The Weather Outlook told The Express: “The weather through the rest of March looks set to be a roller coaster. Early on, it will be chilly with frosty nights, but by midweek, temperatures will rise significantly – London could reach 19C on Thursday or Friday.

“However, conditions will then turn more changeable again with the final week of the month, probably bringing a risk of showers or longer spells of rain. At times, it may even turn cold enough for snow over high ground in northern Britain.”

The ’s long-range forecast between March 12 and 30 suggests a high possibility of “increased showers” in some areas. According to the forecaster, wet conditions are likely to spread across the country, with chances of strong winds too.

It reads: “Still fine for many at the start of this period but by Friday and into the weekend, there is an increasing likelihood that rain or showers will start to arrive from the south or west.

“Wetter weather will probably spread to all areas, at least for a time and could be accompanied by strong winds at times. Into the following week, unsettled conditions will probably continue across many parts of the UK.

“Some heavy rain or showers are possible at times, these most likely across southern parts of the country.

“Temperatures are likely to be widely above average at the start of this period before probably falling back and then fluctuating around average for the remainder of the period.”
