This Critically Panned Action Movie Is The Top Film On Netflix Right Now

“The Electric State” is currently the most popular movie on Netflix, according to the platform’s public ranking system.

The sci-fi action film premiered on Netflix on March 14 to negative reviews from critics. Directed by Marvel Cinematic Universe fixtures Anthony and Joseph Russo, the movie is based on a 2018 illustrated novel and tells the story of a teenage girl’s journey to find her long-lost brother.

“The Electric State” stars Millie Bobby Brown, Chris Pratt, Ke Huy Quan, Jason Alexander, Woody Harrelson, Anthony Mackie, Brian Cox, Jenny Slate, Giancarlo Esposito and Stanley Tucci. With a reported budget exceeding $300 million, the film is Netflix’s most expensive movie ― and one of the most expensive movies ever produced.

The second most popular movie on Max is the new comedy horror film “The Parenting.”

Released on March 13, the movie revolves around a couple’s weekend getaway with their parents. The cast includes Edie Falco, Brian Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Parker Posey, Nik Dodani, Brandon Flynn, Vivian Bang and Dean Norris.

“Force of Nature: The Dry 2” is the top movie on Hulu right now. The Australian mystery thriller is a sequel to the 2020 film “The Dry” and based on a 2017 novel by Jane Harper.

Starring Eric Bana, the film centers around a detective’s investigation into a woman who goes missing on a hiking retreat. Anna Torv, Deborra-Lee Furness and Robin McLeavy also appear.

“Better Man” landed on Paramount+ on March 11. The biographical musical film is about the life of English musician Robbie Williams, with the artist depicted as an anthropomorphic chimpanzee.

Released in theaters on Dec. 25, “Better Man” was a box-office bomb, though it was nominated for an Academy Award for best visual effects.

The hit animated musical film “Moana 2” is available for streaming on Disney+ as of March 12.

A sequel to 2016′s “Moana,” the movie follows the strong-willed daughter of a Polynesian village chief as she travels to find a legendary island. Auliʻi Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson reprise their voice roles.
