are reportedly stepping up their efforts to land a new striker ahead of ‘s first full season in charge. The former Sporting boss replaced in November but has struggled to make an immediate impact. United are still in the bottom half of the Premier League table, having won just six of their 18 matches since Amorim took over.
They have suffered from a distinct lack of firepower, with and Joshua Zirkzee failing to provide a consistent threat. They have only managed six league goals between them, a measly total for strikers at a club of United’s stature. It has led to speculation that a more prolific forward could be at the top of Amorim’s wish list ahead of next season.

It seems the ball is already rolling, with reporting that United are ‘intensively scouting the market’ for a new forward. The report states that ‘talks have already begun’ and suggests that at least four targets have been identified.
United are said to have added Benjamin Sesko to their shortlist ahead of a potential summer move for his signature. have also been credited with an interest in the 21-year-old, who has scored 17 times for RB Leipzig in all competitions this season.
Hugo Ekitike, who nearly signed for in 2022, is also named as a target for the Red Devils. He has enjoyed a productive campaign with Eintracht Frankfurt, chipping in with 19 goals and eight assists for the club he joined in the summer.

United are ‘closely monitoring’ both players in addition to Sporting forward Viktor Gyokeres, who was among Europe’s most prolific marksmen during Amorim’s time at Sporting. Victor Osimhen, on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, is thought to be another target.
It remains to be seen which direction United will go in when it comes to strengthening their forward line in the summer. They will certainly need to sign at least one new striker if they are serious about returning to the Premier League’s upper reaches.
Their highest league scorer is , who has only scored eight times since the beginning of the campaign. Amad is the runner-up with six goals to his name, but he will be sidelined for the rest of the season with a serious ankle injury.
