ITV The Chase’s Darragh Ennis issues brutal verdict after loss as team heartbroken

didn’t hold back as he explained how a team should have done better on . During Monday’s (March 17) instalment of the quiz show, Mark, Suzi, Tracey and Aaron put their knowledge to the test, hoping to outrun The Menace and walk away with a cash prize. The contestants were all successful in making it back to the final chase, meaning Darragh had his work cut out as he was playing against a full house.

Branding them a “great” team, the chaser told the four players that they should be “very disappointed” if they didn’t finish on a score of at least 18 in the final chase. During the final chase, the team didn’t struggle with answering questions correctly, but lacked speed and ended on a score of 16. This didn’t go unnoticed to the chaser, who quipped: “You didn’t get any wrong but you didn’t get through enough questions.

“That’s the problem. I think you probably could have got through five more questions there if you’d sped up a bit and that three or four extras makes this a really tough game for me.”

He added: “Still a good target though.” Darragh had no problem catching the team’s score, and did so with 33 seconds remaining. The four contestants looked devastated as they watched the £16,300 get ripped away from them. After the final chase, Darragh didn’t shy away from telling the team where they went wrong. “You did everything right on your side up until the very end,” he said. “You needed to speed up a bit in the final.”

Darragh praised the team for getting good cash builders and choosing the right offers during the head-to-head, but pointed out their lack of speed in the final chase. He added: “You were just a little bit slow. An extra three or four on there, I might start making some mistakes, but it just wasn’t a high enough target.” Mark, 43, kicked off the game by earning an impressive £6,000 in his cash builder.

The civil servant, who hails from Edinburgh, stuck with this offer and made it through to the final chase with no issues along the way. Up next was 37-year-old Suzi, who answered three questions correctly in the cash builder.

Following advice from her teammates, the photographer from Hemel Hempstead opted for the low offer of £300. After a one question shoot-out, Suzi was delighted when she joined Mark in the final chase.

The third contestant to take on Darragh was Tracey, 55, an environmental health officer from Sutton Coldfield, who added another £4,000 to the prize pot. Aaron was the final player to step up to the spot, answering six questions correctly in his cash builder.

The 28-year-old account manager from London also managed to outrun Darragh, taking the team’s overall total to £16,300. But their efforts sadly went to waste as the team walked away empty-handed.
