Homebase has announced 14 “new and exclusive” garden centres will be opening across the UK next month.
The has already opened more than 20 ‘Garden Centres by Homebase’ inside and has confirmed more will follow in April. The new openings come after the fell into administration in November last year, blaming a decline in consumer confidence and spending post-pandemic for its collapse.
Homebase later saved around 70 of its stores and around 1,600 jobs after striking a deal with retail group CDS – which owns The Range – while B&Q also agreed to take control of five branches. The former Homebase sites in Altrincham, Basingstoke, Biggleswade, Leamington Spa and Worcester are due to be converted into B&Q stores this spring.
It was also announced earlier this month that four former Homebase stores are set to be transformed into Wickes. The stores – based in Dunfermline, Bury St Edmunds, Leeds Moor Allerton and Northampton – will reopen later in the year under the Wickes brand, serving catchment areas that don’t currently benefit from a store.
Despite a wave of closures this year, the Homebase brand isn’t disappearing for good as shoppers can visit its new garden centres inside The Range superstores across the UK, as well as online at Homebase.co.uk where customers can snap up gardening supplies, furniture, kitchens and home decorating items.
A total of 24 ‘Garden Centres by Homebase are currently already open and 14 more are due to open their doors to shoppers next month.
Homebase confirmed the location of three more sites opening in April in a recent post on Facebook, writing: “BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! THREE more ‘Garden Centres by Homebase’ have been confirmed for April openings!
