Now she has revealed that for the first time she has hired a personal trainer to help her get in shape for her latest role – at the age of 87.

The double Oscar-winning actress and former aerobics queen has just signed a modelling deal to become the public face of American trainers manufacturer Golden Goose.

And she is getting in shape for a major advertising campaign with an instructor who “only works with people over 50”.

Barbarella star Jane said: “I work out, upper body and lower body, every other day.”

But she added she does move much more carefully now she is older. “You can get hurt more than when you’re young, so you move slowly. It’s a mantra for being older,” she said.

The mother-of-three says modelling sports shoes suits her perfectly. “I don’t wear heels any more because they throw my pelvis and my hips out of whack.

“So low heels or almost flat shoes have become my thing – including sneakers that have sparklies on them.”

Klute star Jane received a Lifetime Achievement Award last month from the Screen Actors Guild and described herself as a “late bloomer”.
