has accepted that must improve their communications ‘between the pit wall and the car’ and ‘understand what needs’, despite criticism from . The seven-time world champion was left frustrated with his new squad at the Australian Grand Prix.
Hamilton was faced with the unenviable challenge of cooperating with new race engineer Riccardo Adami for the first time while also learning how to use the SF-25’s rain settings in treacherous conditions. The Brit ultimately ended the race with no spins or major incidents but struggled to extract pace from his car. Hamilton crossed the line in P10 after losing a spot to Oscar Piastri on the final lap, while team-mate Charles Leclerc finished in eighth place.
On his way to claiming a solitary point, Hamilton and Adami experienced numerous moments in which they were on different wavelengths. The race engineer was attempting to coach his driver through the wet conditions, but the seven-time world champion regularly asked for quiet on the radio, with increasing frustration in his tone.
Sky Sports F1 commentator and pundit Brundle was taken aback by Hamilton’s approach. He wrote in his column: “I don’t understand why Lewis was so angsty with his engineer Riccardo Adami, who I felt was simply trying to pass over relevant and helpful information.
“It all really fell apart for when they rolled the dice on dry tyres on a wet track and lost out heavily on track position for both drivers, and they left Australia seventh in the championship.”

“For sure, it was not a clean one at all, the strategy was difficult, and we need to find a better way to communicate between the car and the pit wall, but we will learn from race one, and it is not an issue.”
