Apple’s latest phone is the iPhone 16e, a new model that’s a little than the older iPhone 16, but without compromising too much on that essential iPhone experience. Importantly, it’s the cheapest way to get the latest iPhone, with some great deals for shoppers who want a low monthly price of .
This deal from Carphone Warehouse bags you the iPhone 16e (128GB) with 100GB data for £25.99 a month. There’s a catch though: there’s a £69 upfront cost that you’ll have to pay.
The important thing about this deal is that the upfront cost leads to long-term savings: you can opt for 100GB data and pay £28.99 a month, but over the 24 months of this deal, you’ll pay more – and that’s for the same phone, on the same network, with the same data. So it’s worth scraping together that £69 to get into this deal, knowing that you’re saving in the long run.
If you don’t want to get it from Carphone Warehouse, .
I’ve crunched the numbers on this deal and across the 24 months of the contract, you’ll pay a little over £710. If you were to opt for the lower £9 upfront fee and pay £28.99 a month, you’d be paying more than £722 for the same data and phone. I’ve included the annual price rise in these calculations.
If you want the absolute cheapest route to acquiring the iPhone 16e, the , but although it only costs £648 over 24 months, you only get 3GB of data, which won’t keep you connected for long.

The iPhone 16e is the cheapest new iPhone
The iPhone 16e is the new affordable model from Apple, but it still costs £599 if you were going to buy it directly. That’s cheaper than the £799 asking price for the iPhone 16 that was announced in September 2024, with the main compromise being that the iPhone 16e has one less camera and uses the notched display rather than Dynamic Island.
From an experience point of view, these phones are otherwise much the same. Henry Burrell, Deputy Technology Editor at to highlight the differences, pointing out that you miss out on some photo features, MagSafe charging, the Camera Control button, ultra-wideband and Wi-Fi 7.
On the plus side, you have the same size display, the same main camera, the same processor, support for Apple Intelligence and much better battery life. So there’s a lot going for the iPhone 16e. Reviewing the phone, David Snelling, Technology Editor, said “This is a great smartphone that packs quite a punch for a much cheaper price than its siblings.
“The iPhone 16e is a very good phone, but what is missing from this device? Well, unlike the standard iPhone 16 you don’t get Apple’s clever Dynamic Island notch which transforms when you use different apps and services, there’s no MagSafe and the Ceramic Shield glass isn’t the latest – and even stronger – version found on Apple’s more expensive models.
“The single rear snapper isn’t as good as the other iPhone 16 models, and you don’t get the Camera Control shutter button, which is now found on its more expensive siblings. And that brings us back to the difficult decision Apple fans (and those switching from Android) now need to make.
“The iPhone 16e is cheaper, but it isn’t a cheap phone. For the same £599 price, you could buy a bigger iPhone 14 Plus or the award-winning
