Police said the vehicle, a Dodge Charger SRT8, was suspected of an incident earlier when it tried to force a Cadillac Escalade into the centre guard rail.
“When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, it took off,” OPP Ottawa spokesman Const. Michael Fathi said.
“The speed of the vehicle that took off was captured on the radar in the police cruiser,” Fathi said in an email. “(But) no plate information was obtained.
“At the speeds they were going, it presents too much of a danger to the public (for police to pursue),” he said.
Police would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the road-rage incident or had dashcam video. Call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
Meanwhile, six other drivers were hit with stunt-driving charges on Highway 417 on Friday night.
Each driver received an immediate 30-day driving suspension and had their vehicle impounded for 14 days.
Upon conviction in court, each offender faces a minimum $2,000 fine, six demerit points and a one-year driving prohibition.
