Cats, with their quirky nature, can make ideal but deciphering their affectionate side can be quite the challenge, often feeling like unrequited love.
Fortunately, UK-based , who shares advice and tips on animal care on her social media, revealed the key to showing cats love in a recent video. According to her, prefer to receive affection on their own terms rather than through cuddles.
In the video, which garnered over 3500 views, Cat explained: “Our cats are affectionate but they like to be on their own terms and they do prefer to be in control.” She continued: “So stroking, yes, hanging out, absolutely, but big smooshy cuddles? Maybe not so much.”
Additionally, Cat suggested that instead of filling their bowls to the brim, cats should be fed in smaller, regular portions. “Leaving a big full bowl of food out can encourage overeating which can lead to all sorts of health problems like obesity and arthritis,” she warned.
Offering food at frequent intervals or through puzzle balls and interactive toys would better align with a cat’s natural instincts, according to the veterinarian. She also emphasized the importance of spacious, secluded litter trays with scenic views for felines.

“Make sure their litter tray is at least one and a half times the length that they are and is full of sand.” She concluded: “And make sure that you clean it out really regularly because scooping poop really is an act of true love.”
