A UK car company has introduced a new flagship model that is set to rival the likes of the whilst retaining iconic .
The is the latest top model, offering a wide range of aesthetic and technological improvements compared to the outgoing Plus Six.
Speaking to former presenter at the official unveiling, Jonathan Wells, Chief Design Officer for , noted that the Supersport is the result of three years of effort for the company.
He explained: “The Supersport has been the whole team’s real passion project for quite a few years now. Whilst it’s been actively in development for three years, we’ve been imagining what a successor to the Aero, our last flagship performance contemporary car in 2018 could look like.
“We’ve been imagining different shapes and lines, and what started out primarily as a styling exercise really has become a fundamental, ground-up redesign.”

Like almost all Morgans, the Supersport has 1950s throwback styling, but with some modern touches (Image: Morgan Motor Company)
Like almost all models produced by Morgan, the Supersport’s styling is decidedly vintage, featuring the same familiar externally-mounted headlights, vertical grille and sweeping front wings that were first seen on models made by the brand in the 1950s.
However, there are a number of touches that set the new Morgan apart from its predecessors. The rear end, in particular, is slightly more curvacious and clean-cut, featuring a larger set of LED rear lights and a bigger rear windscreen.
Buyers will also get a choice of two sets of forged alloy wheels which are designed to be significantly lighter, cutting 4.1kg off each corner of the vehicle, and the choice of either a hardtop coupe or cabriolet, which features a mohair roof.

Inside, the Morgan Supersport will offer a similar mix of classic Morgan styling and new features that, the company hope, will make owning the model an easier experience.
Compared to the Plus Six, the new Morgan offers a lot more storage options, featuring a glovebox under the dashboard, a cubby behind the seats and an electronically-opening boot.
Whilst the model bucks the modern trend of featuring a large touchscreen to control infotainment functions, owners can still wirelessly charge their smartphone and listen to music via a Sennheiser sound system.
Like the previous model, the Morgan Supersport will use a BMW-made 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine which features two turbochargers to produce 335bhp.
Mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the Supersport is expected to take a little over four seconds to accelerate from 0-62mph; however, the new Morgan’s improved steering system will help to improve road holding, whereas a reduction in drag could boost its top speed.
The Morgan Supersport is by no means an affordable car, however, with the first examples set to cost customers between £102,000 and £107,500 – a touch more than the entry-level Porsche 911 Carrera.
