For a to be deemed as close to perfection as possible, a number of factors come into play. These include its crystal-clear waters and their pristine appearance, with white sandy beaches deemed as being among the biggest beauty factors.

For a beach to possess white sands, they are often made of quartz – a resistant and durable mineral known to retain its crystalline structure even after erosion. Alongside being beautiful to look at, white sandy beaches are known to be cooler and are more comfortable to sit and walk on during the summer months, thanks to their ability to reflect sunlight. Greece is no stranger when it comes to stunning beaches, and a recent study found Marmari Beach and Agios Prokopios Beach to be the ultimate white sandy beach holiday hotspots.

The report comes after they analysed scientific colour theories while also looking at the RGB colour codes (an additive colour model) of sands from a list of 200 beaches globally.

Their analysis captured unedited Google map images of different beaches, followed by a colour dropper tool to help identify the RGB code of the sand.

This was then compared with the RGB code of the purest white sand by using a calculator to determine the closeness of each beach’s sand to the whitest white colour.
