The star made a quick trip to Scotland to mark the occasion, sharing a snapshot of the two of them beaming at The Birnam restaurant in The Gleneagles Hotel. In another image, Jack can be seen enjoying a pint of Guinness in their hotel room while the father and son watch football together. A video also captured the moment a waiter delivered Jack’s elaborate birthday cake to the Keating’s table.
Alongside the post, Ronan wrote: “Quick hop to Scotland to celebrate my eldest. Jacko you are loved buddy. Far and wide and from the outside. Storm and I always got ya. Happy birthday, Son. Proud of the man you are.” Fans were quick to react to the sweet tribute. One noted the resemblance between the father and son, saying: “Happy birthday to Jack. Jack Keating, who is the eldest child of Ronan and his ex wife Yvonne Connolly, grew up in the world of pop stardom. As a young boy, he traveled the globe alongside his father and the rest of Boyzone.
He has spoken about the experience, telling : “It was crazy. In the early days, I was only a little baba, so I was getting carried around everywhere.”
While he was too young to experience Boyzone’s initial peak, he was old enough to appreciate their later reunions. He added: “I remember when they got back together, and that was amazing. My dad was my age now when he was at the height of the band’s fame.”
Now 26, Jack is carving out his own career in entertainment, working as a radio presenter and DJ with Dublin’s Spin 1038.

He has protested that he is not a ‘nepo baby’, arguing that while his father’s name might open doors for him, his path to success is his own. Jack told : “You can have the name or your dad can put you into places, but it only gets you so far. You have to actually put the work in as well.”
Jack has also shown support for Ronan in the face of public criticism. In 2023, former Boyzone manager made headlines for calling Ronan “such a p***k” during an appearance on Celebrity Big Brother.
While Jack has said he wouldn’t hold a grudge against Louis, he made it clear he wouldn’t be overly friendly with him after those comments either.
At the time he said: “If I saw him now, I probably wouldn’t be the warmest person in the world. Obviously knowing what happened.”
Louis later issued an apology to Ronan, admitting his comments were made in the heat of the moment.
