Prince William jokes about gift he gave Princess Kate that she won’t let him ever forget

once presented with an “awful” gift during the early days of their relationship – one which left her stumped. There’s no doubt that William gifted his wife a sweet gift for Christmas last year, but the royal hasn’t always found gift-giving an easy task.

The future King, 42, once revealed that he previously gifted Kate a present that she has “never let him forget” as it left her baffled. Whilst making an appearance on Peter Crouch’s podcast on Radio Five Live, the former England footballer confessed to giving his own wife Abbey Clancy a raincoat for her birthday three years in a row, before William said: “I did get my wife a pair of binoculars once – she’s never let me forget that.”

Specifying when the gift took place, he added: “That was early on in the courtship – I think that sealed the deal. It didn’t go well. Honestly, I have no idea why I bought her a pair of binoculars, it seemed like a good idea at the time.”

It is well-known that the royals typically opt to gift one another light-hearted presents – rather than expensive ones – and due to German tradition, the family open their presents on Christmas Eve.
