Police are hunting a rogue golfer who has caused damage to an historic fort by hitting golf balls against its walls.
Landguard Fort in Felixstowe, Suffolk, has suffered from mortar damage to its outer wall after around 40 balls were hit from a nearby grass mound.
The fort was the site of the last seabourne invasion from the Dutch in 1667 but the current structure was built in the 18th century and was closed in 1956.
It is now a popular tourist attraction and is open to visitors at certain points in the year.
Suffolk Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened on Point View Road between 5pm on March 10 and 9am on March 11.

Other balls were hit over its wall into the inner parade area and the damage is an offence under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act 1979.
A Suffolk Police spokesperson said: “Between Monday 10 March at 5pm and Tuesday 11 March at 9am over 40 golf balls have been driven from a grass mound outside of the Landguard Fort on Point View Road, Felixstowe.
“It caused damage to the outer wall of the fort.
“Crime reference 37/13803/25.”
