legends Jedward have confessed they “never really had a relationship” with the judges during their time on the popular talent show. The Irish twins John and Edward Grimes, 33, competed on the reality show back in 2009 where made it all the way through to the live finals. The dynamic duo, who were managed by Louis Walsh until 2013, were pipped to the post by Joe McElderry.

But that hasn’t stopped them from achieving success, with the musicians going on to represent Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2011 and 2012. Since then, they have gone on to release their own music and have made various appearances on reality TV, including Celebrity Big Brother.

Now, as the artist team up with Dr Pepper to promote a new limited-edition flavour, Cherry Crush Zero Sugar, the TV stars have lifted the lid on what it was like to work with the star-studded judging panel on the talent show.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, they confessed: “I feel like ultimately, we never really had a relationship with any of them really because they kept very much to themselves and they were doing their own thing.

“And obviously that’s on them because we are much people people and we do like lifting people up. But then I hope they’re doing well. But recently some platform Simon has, they’ve reached out so he’s obviously thinking of us, he’s still obsessed with us.

“But I think now that he has a son, he’s a dad now, he probably sees a different version of us”, they added. It comes after the pair hit back at Walsh branding them “vile” in his shocking Celebrity Big Brother rant last year.

Their singers snapped back at the music mogul in an interview with Metro.co.uk, admitting: “We treated Louis with kindness and respect but he took advantage of our easy-going nature and ultimately didn’t have the best intentions for us to evolve as artists.

“He’s known for being b****y and gossiping about everyone. We aren’t along: many other acts have had similar experiences with him. No one needs the negativity trying to stop you from being the best version of yourself.”

Jedward have partnered up with the soft drink giant for over two years, with the company recently conducting research that found 80 percent of people think that friends are some of the most important people you have have in life.

A further 65 percent of people claimed that having good friends is as important as having a partner. Dr Pepper Cherry Crush Zero Sugar is available at all major retailer nationwide in 330ml, 50ml, 2l and 8x330ml formats.
