Presenter Ben Boulos has become a familiar face for BBC Breakfast viewers over the years.
With his approachable demeanour and clear, authoritative tone, he has become a trusted figure in the world of broadcasting and journalism.
The TV star serves as a news presenter and journalist for News, specialising in business reporting for both UK and global audiences. He also hosts several key programs, including, Business Live, Talking Business and World Business Report.
In addition to this, Ben is a main relief presenter for World News, News Channel, and World Service, reaching an estimated weekly audience of over 75 million viewers. Since April 2020, he has also presented “Around the World By News” on Quibi.

Career
Ben’s television career started in 2007 at Channel M Television in Manchester.
He then moved to Essex, where he worked as a Political Reporter, covering both local and national politics across radio, TV, and online platforms.
During this time, he conducted investigations, broke exclusive stories, and held public officials and politicians accountable. Ben’s career continued to evolve as he took on the role of UK correspondent for Radio 5 Live, based in Salford.
He later became a Video Journalist Correspondent at Look East, where he took on the responsibility of filming and editing his own reports.
In addition to his regular appearances on television, Ben took on a unique role in April 2020 when he began hosting the Around the World By News program on Quibi. The program, which was released on the now-defunct platform, explored global stories in a bite-sized format, allowing audiences to stay connected to world events, even during the pandemic.

Name change
While many might know him as Ben Boulos, not everyone is aware that his birth surname was actually Bland.
Ben, whose father is British and mother is of Sudanese-Egyptian descent, made the conscious decision to adopt his mother’s maiden name, Boulos, in February 2021. In an interview with the , he shared that his decision was a way to better reflect his identity and heritage.
He said: “I felt the name Bland didn’t do justice to who I am. By adopting the name Boulos, I am embracing the diverse cultural influences that have shaped me.”
He added: “Thinking about your name and your identity is the kind of thing you put off because life is too busy, it’s never a good time, everyone else is busy. When is the right time to strike up a conversation with your parents about your idea of changing your surname?”

Outside pursuits
When Ben isn’t delivering the latest news or providing expert analysis on global business, he can often be found cycling.
An avid cyclist, Ben has a deep love for the sport, and it’s something he has pursued with great enthusiasm. He has even competed at the amateur level, representing Surrey in competitive cycling races.

The TV presenter is known to show his support for the LGBTQ+ community via his account. In 2021 he attended the Pride at the Palace in the West End of London.
At the event which takes place in June, which features many prominent LGBTQ+ artists and activists, he wrote on social media: “Happy Pride Month everyone!
“What better way to celebrate than with #PrideAtThePalace – a colourful, fab, uplifting show featuring actual Heather Small!”
