broke down in tears as they watched Newcastle beat Liverpool in the EFL Cup.

The iconic Geordie duo were in attendance at Wembley to watch their team take on the Premier League leaders on Sunday. Newcastle beat ‘s side 2-1 to win their first major trophy since the 1955, ending their 70-year trophy drought.

TV cameras spotted the presenters watching from their hospitality box, with Ant sporting a black and white scarf emblazoned with the face of Newcastle’s assistant manager, Jason Tindall.

After the final whistle went, Ant and Dec could be seen sobbing as they prepared to watch their team lift their first major trophy in their lifetime.

Ant and Dec featured regularly throughout the game and Commentator Clive Tyldesley was forced to explain who they were to American viewers who were watching on CBS Sports.

Tyldesley was commentating on the game alongside former England goalkeeper Rob Green.

“You may not be familiar with Anthony McPartlin,” he began. “But him, and there’s Declan too, are television royalty in the UK.

“Are Ant and Dec big in America? I’m not sure. They’re not big anywhere actually, they’re both about 5ft 6… They’re friends of mine, I can say that!”

Green chimed in: “They’re not the Clive and Rob Show, that’s for sure.”

Newcastle took the lead on the stroke of half time when the towering Dan Burn rose above Alexis Mac Allister to head it beyond Caoimhin Kelleher, sending the travelling Toon Army into a frenzy.

Alexander Isak then doubled his side’s lead in the 53rd minute, moments after having a goal disallowed. Substitute Federico Chiesa pulled one back for Liverpool in the 94th minute, but Newcastle managed to see out the remaining moments of the game.
