One of the city’s most popular attractions is the cathedral. The beautiful Romanesque structure is the perfect spot to uncover some of the town’s rich history. Visitors can enjoy a free tour every hour from 10am to 3pm, Monday through Saturday.

One visitor on Tripadvisor said: “Beautiful cathedral. Highlights were the stunning ceiling in the nave, the colours of the stained glass windows and the copper font, which was previously used in a local chocolate factory!

“Entry is via a modern section which houses a decent gift shop, and there is also a spacious cafe on an upper level. Free entry but donations encouraged.”

The castle is also a must-see attraction in the city. Currently, both the museum and the art gallery are open, showcasing beautiful collections of fine art, archaeology and natural history, providing a perfect experience for the whole family. The medieval keep has been closed due to redevelopment plans. However, with the final phase nearing completion, it is set to reopen as a Royal Palace in spring 2025.
