Kate Humble confessed she was “vile” to her husband of more than 30 years – and they were left on the brink of divorce many times. The veteran presenter, 56, has been married to Ludo Graham 63, since 1992. Their families were friends for decades before they were born, with Kate’s step-father and Ludo’s great-uncle serving together in
Famous in his own right, Ludo is a TV producer who has worked on everything from -winning documentary The Choir to Al Murray’s WW2 programmes. He lives on a working farm in Monmouthshire in the Wye Valley with Kate – but she’s the first to admit that they sometimes drive each other mad.
When Kate was trying to write a cookbook for the first time, the pressures of her job put additional strain on her marriage. She confessed: “Basically, I got divorced almost every week as I tried to balance filming with writing the cookbook, which I had no idea how to do because I’d never done one before. I was vile to poor Ludo!”

She told Platinum magazine that the marriage nearly fell apart “almost on a weekly basis”, confessing that setting up the family farm was especially difficult.
“It was really hard. We were doing our day jobs while getting it up and running, with no knowledge or experience. We constantly asked ourselves, ‘Are we making a terrible mistake?’ But now we are living the dream.”

Ludo and Kate had been on each other’s peripheries for years before they finally got together, and he popped the question while they were on holiday in Prague. She told The Times: “He walked into the bathroom with a glass of champagne and proposed while I was in the bath. Of course I said yes.
“We were married six months later on September 12, 1992, the same day my parents and his grandmother were married. I was 23 and Ludo was 31. I knew from the age of 14 that having kids wasn’t for me. Luckily Ludo agreed.”
