ITV Emmerdale spin-off series ‘revealed’ with ‘unlikely friends’ – and fans are delighted

Emmerdale enthusiasts are rooting for a spin-off series featuring two “iconic” characters, and the choices might surprise you.

Home Farm residents have recently been through a whirlwind of events, following the unexpected death of Will Taylor over Christmas, which was triggered by Joe Tate’s return.

Joe made his way back to the village with a plan to bring down , who had attempted to murder him six years prior. However, Kim surprisingly welcomed him back into her life.

In recent episodes, though, Kim has shown some suspicion towards her step-grandson, leading her to plant a bug in his room.

When this didn’t reveal any incriminating evidence against Joe, Kim recruited her friend Lydia Dingle to spy on him, all while making Joe believe she fully trusts him.

“[Joe] needs to believe that he’s no longer under surveillance whilst having someone keep a very close eye on him… someone no one would suspect,” Kim stated.

It wasn’t long before Lydia discovered some dirt on Joe. After secretly tailing him to an empty cottage, she caught him kissing Dawn Fletcher and quickly snapped photos of the encounter.

Lydia hurriedly showed the pictures to Kim, who was livid at the revelation and later urged Dawn to end the affair, reports .

Joe has since noticed Lydia snooping around his bedroom but hasn’t yet realised she’s working for Kim.

viewers can’t get enough of the amusing alliance between Kim and Lydia, with several calling for a dedicated spin-off to chronicle their “hilarious” escapades.

One enthusiast took to to declare: “Who would’ve thought that Lydia would make a top-class secret agent? From the moment that Kim teamed up with her, I knew we were in for some fun, but I didn’t expect her to uncover Joe’s fling with Dawn so quickly. I would pay good money for a Kim and Lydia spin-off!”

Another shared their enthusiasm, “I will definitely pay good money to see it. Writers and producers take note! I just love Claire King and Karen Blick when Kim and Lydia get together,” while yet another fan expressed a desire for more screen time featuring the dynamic pair: “I, too, would be delighted with more Kim/Lydia screen time.”
