In a previous episode of , experts James Braxton and Charlie Ross had a tense clash as their customary competitive streak hit a peak on the series. With an array of eclectic items up for the best bids, their journey from Kent to Sussex saw James commanding an impressive lead over Charles, as he couldn’t resist boasting of his victories with his diverse haul, which featured a unique Japanese bronze snake, tiles with unconventional patterns, and a charming table.

The auctions was punctuated with barbs as Charlie reached his boiling point during the showdown, leading to him eventually remarking: “Look I could do without this patronising Braxton behaviour.” James sidestepped Charlie’s sharp retort, yet when his understated tiles fetched nearly twice their value, he clearly couldn’t help but flick a jestful gloat at his colleague. “I’d like to call myself Midas,” James effused. An unimpressed Charlie quickly hit back as he said: “I’d like to call you something else but I won’t.”

The air crackled with tension as James coasted further ahead, prompting a half-admiring surrender from Charlie, as he said: “James Braxton you are nothing short of a genius, I salute you.”

The enthralling auction culminated with James pocketing a handsome £141 profit, leaving Charlie trailing with just £4. James’ triumph was significantly propelled by the sale of the decorative snake sculpture, which had captivated auctioneer Rupert Toovey, earning it the accolade “the star of the show”.

As the experts tallied up their gains, James cautioned his colleague: “It’s only the first round,” while Charlie quipped: “Oh great have I got to do four more auctions with you?”.

Meanwhile, viewers were left unimpressed during the latest episode of the hit series, as Natasha Raskin Sharp and Philip Serrell had a look around a number of antique shops in Scotland.

As the pair travelled around the stunning countryside, fans noticed what appeared to be fake driving scenes, with the scenic Scottish scenery seemingly added via green screen in a change to the show’s usual format.

Fans were quick to share their frustration, questioning why the presenters were no longer driving on real roads. One viewer posted on X (formerly Twitter): “Why are the driving scenes from a green screen? Aren’t you allowed to drive it?” Another agreed: “The driving scenes are so amateur. Why the change? It’s so bad, I find it so annoying.”
