Two men have been arrested and charged with trafficking drugs inside a Vancouver nightclub.

According to Vancouver police, a tipster contacted investigators in December 2023, saying drug trafficking was happening at a nightclub located in the Marpole neighbourhood.

An investigation was launched into Gallery Nightclub, near Southwest Marine and Hudson Street.

For the next 15 months, investigators gathered evidence and built a case.

Two nightclub employees, Anthony Pomonis, 51, and Navid Zanganeh, 28, have been arrested

Pomonis is charged with one count of trafficking a controlled substance. Zanganeh is charged with four counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, three counts of trafficking a controlled substance, one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and one count of possession of an unauthorized weapon.

The men have both been released but are due back in court on April 8.

On Thursday, the nightclub where the men were working said on Instagram it would reopen on March 22. The account, which has more than 20,000 followers, appeared to have been established for some time but did not have any previous posts on their profile.

Police have responded to a number of violent incidents at or near the club in recent years.

In October 2023, two men outside the club were targeted in a shooting. One man suffered a gunshot wound to his arm, while the other man was not injured.

A year earlier, a man was stabbed and killed while visiting the nightclub.
