Sharon Stone Says She Was Cut From Blake Lively’s New Movie Without Warning

A week after audiences got their first look at “Another Simple Favor,” Sharon Stone has come forward with an eyebrow-raising claim about the movie.

In the comments section of an Instagram video posted by E! News Thursday, Stone said she’d been set to appear in the film, but was ultimately “removed” from the project.

“I LOVED being cast and removed from my role unexpectedly for no reason at all LOVED it,” wrote the actor, a 1996 Academy Award nominee for “Casino.” She added four clapping emojis alongside her comment.

It’s not immediately clear what role Stone was intended to play, and her page on the online movie database IMDb makes no mention of “Another Simple Favor.” The movie stars Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively, with Henry Golding, Allison Janney and Andrew Rannells in supporting roles.

HuffPost has reached out to representatives for the film’s director, Paul Feig, and distributor Amazon Studios for comment on Stone’s claim.

“Another Simple Favor” is a sequel to the 2018 dark comedy “A Simple Favor.” Kendrick and Lively are reprising their respective roles as Stephanie Smothers and Emily Nelson, two suburban moms who are harboring some wild secrets. This time around, the pair head to Capri as Emily prepares to marry an Italian heartthrob named Dante, played by Michele Morrone.

The movie premiered last week at South by Southwest, and early reviews have been mostly positive.

“Kendrick’s comedic timing has never been sharper, and it’s obvious that Lively is having a blast,” The Hollywood Reporter’s Lovia Gyarkye wrote.

Though “Another Simple Favor” won’t hit Amazon Prime Video until May 1, the movie has endured a fair amount of pre-release scrutiny. Much of it appears to be tied to the legal quagmire involving Lively and her “It Ends with Us” co-star and director, Justin Baldoni.

In January, Feig shut down an online rumor that “Another Simple Favor” had been shelved due to a behind-the-scenes feud between Kendrick and Lively, calling it “total BS.”

“Movies don’t come out the second they’re finished because the studio spends the previous year deciding the best date to release it,” he wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “We’ve always planned on something in the spring/summer of this year. That’s how movies work.”

Though Stone might have missed out on her chance to appear in “Another Simple Favor,” her acting career is once again in high gear. Last month, Variety confirmed she’d joined the cast of HBO’s “Euphoria” for its upcoming third season, though details of her role have not yet been disclosed.
