Chris Dobey is on ‘Project ’ with his 14-month-old son and hopes he can be dominating the tour even earlier than The Nuke. The Premier League Darts star hopes his young child can one day go on to become the next Littler.

Dobey has two children but only one has shown a serious interest in darts. The eldest was 18 months’ old when he lost interest in the sport. But the world No. 6 hopes his youngest will follow his lead by going into professional darts. The one-year-old has his own magnetic dart board and apparently loves throwing arrows.

Asked when Project Littler starts with his young son, Dobey laughed and responded on the YouTube channel: “It’s already started with the little one! I’ve got him a little magnetic dart board for his birthday and he’s never off it.

“My eldest has got no interest now. He did have a good natural throw when he was 12-18 months, but no interest whatsoever.

“[My youngest is] 14 months and he’s literally throwing it at the magnetic board. We’ll try to get him playing earlier than Littler! I didn’t force nothing on him. I got him [the magnetic board] and we’ll see what happens. But he’s always throwing it at the board and he loves it.”

Dobey is only 34 and the prospect of him playing against one of his sons in the future was raised. He said: “I’d like to still be playing if one of the two were to come through. It’ll be great. 100 per cent [I’d beat them], you can’t go light on them.

“I’m also one of those who would play pairs with them. I wouldn’t play pairs with a good player, you want to try to bring them through too.”

Dobey has only made it past the quarter-final on one Premier League night this year. However, he reached the final on night one in Belfast. The diehard United fan lost the showdown against Luke Humphries. He will be well supported when the Premier League goes to for night eight on March 27.

The 2023 Masters champion and six-time Players Championship title winner will hope to put together a better run of performances over the next few weeks in the hope of qualifying for May’s play-offs.
