Fans of could not believe one answer on the ITV quiz show this evening as they learnt of a little-known wedding rule. Host Bradley Walsh had welcomed four new players to the programme as they tested their general knowledge skills against the Chaser of the day – , also known as the Governess.

Presenter Bradley Walsh welcomed four new players to take on The Chaser. Andrew from Oldham, Karen from Whickham, Ashleigh from Norfolk and Sam from Leeds came together as a team and put their general knowledge skills to the test against the quizzing champion.

As the game played on, a question about wedding ceremonies came up. Brad asked the contestant: “In England, what is normally the earliest time of day a wedding ceremony can start in an Anglican church?” The optional answers were 8am, 10am or 12pm.

The player had selected midday as he explained his answer saying: “Just because people need to get ready?” However, the correct response was then revealed to be 8am – much to the disbelief of viewers at home.

Posting to X/Twitter, one fan wrote: “#TheChase Blimey, who gets married at 8am? You’d have to be up in the middle of the night to get ready.” Another asked: “How the f*** are people supposed to be ready to get ready at 8am?!!… #TheChase.”

Someone else admitted that they “never knew” writing: “8am, never knew. Seems way too early #TheChase.” With another person posting: “WTF would want to get married at 8am #thechase.”
