Former advisor Mike Buckley came under fire as he was interviewed by star Julia Hartley-Brewer with the presenter brutally demanding that a politician be “sacked on the spot”. It comes as the ex-government advisor defended actions of the Labour party, particularly business secretary .
The host pointed out that the politican had “claimed that he was a trained solicitor, even though he is not a trained solicitor”. She explained: “He did a few months of training but never qualified as a solicitor and it is a criminal offence to claim that you are a solicitor when you are not.” She then asked: “How on earth is this man still in government?”

Mr Buckley instantly jumped to defend the as he said: “I mean, I genuinely think this is a non-story. This was 10 years ago…” But Julia cut in as she asked the guest if he had ever “got confused” about what qualifications he has to which he replied saying no.
The TalkTV host went on to say that Mr Reynolds is a “liar” as she said that people would not be able to “trust anything he says”. Mr Buckey replied: “I don’t think he’s a liar, I think he made a simple mistake. People are allowed to make mistakes.”
But Julia was not buying it as she shook her head in disgust and said: “But it’s not a mistake!” The guest went on to point out that the politician had apologised and the solcitor’s regulatory body had decided not to investigate the matter.
Don’t miss… [REACTION] [UPDATE]
The host continued as she said: “I like Jonathan Reynolds, I get on very well with him. I’m just not sure that people should be in government who have lied about their professional qualifications.” She added: “He got elected on that basis, any other job – he’d be sacked on the spot!”
Fans of the show agreed with Julia. Posting to X/Twitter, one user said: “That lie is indefensible. Reynolds carried that lie and used it to propel his stature to higher ground. It was maliciously used. Reynolds should be sacked.” Another echoed: “Starmer should sack the liar!”
However, others defended Reynolds, with one saying: “Ironically a lot of the people complaining about Jonathan Reynolds are quite happy to brush off Trump telling lie after lie.”
