An entire island has been put up for sale with a market price lower than a London flat. The remote island of Eilean Mor is located within Loch Sunart on the west coast of . It boasts a 30-acre plot that is a haven for bird watchers and wildlife enthusiasts alike.
The island has tall green hills and stunning clear water as far as the eye can see. The secluded island offers a slice of tranquility that is a far cry from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

With three cove beaches, Eilean Mor is perfect for people wanting to go “off-grid” for a little while. It is on the market for just £325,000, while the average London flat in Rightmove is believed to cost £543,237, reports Luxury Property News.
The island is only accessible via boat or on a low tide causeway, however, due to its positioning on the maps. There is no planning permission associated with the island, as it is part of the Sunart Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and Sunart Special Area of Conservation (SAC).
While life on the island may be very quiet, the village of Strontian is just a seven minute drive away. There are various walks and climbs in the area too, with the Ariundle Oakwood National Nature Reserve just up the road from the village.
The area is home to several lodges and bed and breakfasts too. Strontian has shops, a church and a cafe, as well as primary and secondary schools.

The doctor’s surgery is not far away either. While Fort William, often considered the “outdoor capital of the UK” is just 15 miles away.
Listed as offering “fresh opportunity and adventure”, the island has been under family ownership for generations, so its appearance on the market with Bell Ingram is quite rare.
Eilean Mor itself was once the focal point of a mystery, as three experienced lighthouse crew members seemingly abandoned their station in 1900. Captain James Harvey was guiding a ship to the island with replacement lighthouse keeper Joseph Moore.Upon realising there was no one to greet the pair, they sounded the horn, but had no response. Moore rowed ashore and claimed he had a sense of foreboding on his walk up the cliff.
When he arrived at the lighthouse, he discovered the door unlocked and found two of the three coats missing, with half-eaten food in the kitchen. Robert Muirhead, a Northern Lighthouse Board (NLB) superintendent, was subsequently dispatched to the island but the men were never found.
