His Majesty held an audience with Gregory Peters, who is Usher of the Black Rod of the Senate of Canada, and Senate Speaker Raymonde Gagne on March 12 in the afternoon.
While such audiences with the King are private, they are vunderstood to have discussed these vital matters and it comes as the US president, , has repeatedly floated the idea that the United States could absorb Canada and make it the 51st state. on steel and aluminium for Canada from 25 per cent to 50 per cent for Canada, but hours later this was halted. The audience was held to present Mr Peters with a new ceremonial sword commissioned by the Senate in the King’s honour to mark the change of reign.
Charles is said to have shared his personal thanks for what was described as such a thoughtful gesture as he bestowed the sword on Mr Peters.

In February, on the 60th anniversary of Canada’s flag day, the King appeared to send another subtle message of support to the nation, writing: “On February 15, 1965, the red and white maple leaf was first flown on Parliament Hill in Ottawa.
“Since that time, it has become internationally recognised as a symbol of a proud, resilient and compassionate country. For my own part, it is a symbol that never fails to elicit a sense of pride and admiration, as I recall with the deepest affection my many Canadian visits and friendships.”

Towards the end of last month, Prime Minister used his trip to the White House to present – inviting him for a second state visit.
Sir Keir said the president’s last state visit in 2019 had been a “tremendous success” and that the invite for a second visit was “truly historic” and “unprecedented”.
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office after reading the letter, said he accepted the invite and that it would be an “honour” to visit the “fantastic” country.
Traditionally second-term US presidents are not offered a state visit and have instead been invited for tea or lunch with the monarch at Windsor Castle.
