Jimmy Kimmel said there may be an opportunity for him in the White House with President Donald Trump booting out the real reporters.
“They’ve made spots for friendlier outlets, which is a decision that has created a buffet of buffoonery,” Kimmel said.
He pointed to Brian Glenn of the pro-Trump streaming platform Real America’s Voice, who attacked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for not wearing a suit last month and this week asked Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin why he allowed comic/Trump critic Rosie O’Donnell into the country.
“You know if they’re gonna allow stupid questions to be asked at the White House I would like them to invite me to ask some stupid questions,” Kimmel said, then offered a preview: “Mr. President, I’m with ABC, when you’re on the toilet do you ever look down and cry?”
The Trump administration has kicked some news organizations ― including HuffPost ― from its press pool, and banned the Associated Press from White House events for refusing to call the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America.
But if there’s anyone who won’t be welcome anywhere near the White House, it’s probably Kimmel.
While Trump has often attacked all late night hosts, he seems to hold a special hatred for Kimmel specifically.
Trump frequentlyattacked him by name throughout the 2024 presidential campaign. During his first term in office, he reportedly tried to get Disney ― owner of ABC, which broadcasts Kimmel’s show ― to censor the host.
