ITV GMB’s Kate Garraway told to ‘move on’ as producers intervene in heated debate

‘s Kate Garraway was advised to “move on” by producers on Thursday morning after a topic took an unexpected turn. Kate, 57, and co-host Ed Balls were discussing the latest news, including a hawk’s attacks on tall men in a Hertfordshire village.

Fellow presenter enthusiastically shared her theories about the hawk’s identity and motives. As the conversation continued, Kate quipped: “She’s all over this!” Ed chimed in: “All these theories going around this morning!”

With producers urging her to move on, Kate admitted: “The producers are saying to ‘move on’ but I’d be quite happy to talk about this all morning, I’m fascinated here!” Ed jokingly replied: “Or… if we wait long enough, the hawk will appear!” The hawk has been wreaking havoc in Flamstead, Hertfordshire, targeting tall men’s heads in around 20 attacks.

Meanwhile, Kate is set to trade ITV for Channel 4 as she participates in The Great Celebrity Bake Off For Stand Up To Cancer. Ahead of the show, Kate confessed: “I’ve never really done it. I love cooking and always seem to know how to combine ingredients to make something delicious but that’s different because you can taste it as you go. Baking is a different ball game entirely.”

The art of baking has been likened to alchemy by the celebrity, who said: “You take egg and flour and butter, that taste and look like one thing on their own, then put them together and they create something completely different. Baking is alchemy.”

The contestant modestly added: “So, I don’t think I’ve come out proving myself a Merlin, but I’m hoping not to be the Wicked Witch of the West.”

When it comes to her go-to baked goods, she confessed: “You can’t go wrong with a Victoria Sponge with a fresh cream middle, I love cake. But I also love savoury bakes – sausage rolls and so on. It’s all delicious.”
