has revealed that despite being an F1 driver racing at the pinnacle of open-wheel motorsport, he doesn’t drive cars away from the racetrack. During a ‘Meet the 2025 F1 drivers’ video on the official F1 YouTube channel, the Canadian was asked about a fact fans may not know about him. He replied, “I don’t drive on the road. Yep, it has been a long time!”
Instead of spending his time enjoying a luxury car collection like fellow F1 stars Lewis Hamilton, Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc, Stroll likes to pursue extreme sports. The Canadian racer often posts clips to his Instagram account from snowboarding and skiing trips, as well as his experiences practicing water sports.
Discussing his passions away from racing in an interview with , he explained: “In the couple of months before the start of the F1 season, I’m on the couch watching football on a Sunday.
“I’m a New York Giants fan. I don’t get to many games these days, but I’ve been to two Super Bowls. In fact, they were the two Super Bowls that the Giants won, in 2008 and 2012. They don’t win much anymore, unfortunately!”

He added: “I played tonnes of sports when I was younger and I still do. I did a lot of mountain biking growing up and I was and am a big skier. I played a lot of [ice] hockey too and now play tennis, play golf and surf. It’s basically what I spend my time doing. When I’m not on track, I’m very active, and I just like to live it up.”
Stroll’s nonchalant attitude to road cars is not a new stance. The 26-year-old first discussed the fact in 2019. “I don’t really drive much on the road, to be honest,” he confessed. “I catch a cab or whatever time to time. I ride bikes. Motorbikes, it’s easier through traffic.
More F1… [UPDATE] [VERDICT]
“I have got a bike [at home] in Switzerland. I love ripping around on a bike. I have an XSR700 Yamaha. I blast through the mountains on that, it’s a lot of fun. I do enough driving on the track! So anything under F1 isn’t that exciting. It’s just so much better through traffic and so much more convenient.”
While Stroll’s decision not to drive is a choice, some other F1 stars have only just obtained their licenses. Kimi Antonelli passed his road test this winter before his Grand Prix debut in Melbourne, and Oliver Bearman revealed at F1 75 Live how .
