A small seaside town in Sicily is offering a weekend escape for two people for just one euro (84p). Siculiana, located on the island’s west coast, boasts stunning beaches, breathtaking scenery, and historical monuments. The local tourist board is offering people the chance to bag a three-night getaway to Siculiana for less than the price of a coffee to boost the area’s economy. The one euro fee, Sicily’s tourist tax, includes accommodation, meals and guided tours.
To have a chance of going on the holiday, all you have to do is submit a 30-second video explaining why you and your travel partner want to visit the area. The Siculiana Tourism Board said applicants must be over 18 and submit their videos in pairs. A total of 10 couples will be selected for the holiday which will run from Friday, April 4 until Sunday, April 6. The application deadline is this Saturday (March 15), with the winners set to be announced by Thursday, March 20.

What’s included in the 84p holiday?
The lucky winners will spend the weekend at one of Siculiana Turistica’s partner facilities. As well as breakfast, lunch and dinner, the holiday includes a welcome drink at the hotel and a drink to finish the trip by the marina.
Guided tours are also included in the package, including trips to the town’s most historically significant locations. One place not to miss is the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, which is 13km away from Siculiana.

Another popular sight is the 14th-century Chiaramonte Castle, which sits on the edge of a rocky cliff. Visitors can also enjoy looking around several churches and monuments.
The only catch is that flights aren’t included in the 84p deal. However, you can fly from the UK to Palermo for around £50. All you need to do then is find your way from the airport to your hotel in Siculiana.
Winners will also be expected to record a video diary of their holiday. They will then share the highlights of their trip to Siculiana with the tourist board.
