A cherished homeware store is having a huge closing down sale before it shuts its door for good next month. Welcome Home in Glasgow was a firm favourite in the city, but told shoppers in February that it would be closing down forever.

“Welcome Home will be closing in April. We tried many ways to keep going during the building closure, but the shop has not survived”, the store said in a statement on Facebook. It added: “Thank you to our brilliant team, talented designers and makers, CCA, and all of our lovely customers over the years!”.

The CCA has been closed since December 2024 but is set to reopen next month after receiving multi-year funding from Creative Scotland.

Following the news of the injection of financial support, a CCA spokesperson said: “We have fought incredibly hard to keep CCA alive and to make sure we would be here for the long term.

“This funding is a recognition of that fight, and a testament to the resilience, creativity and determination of our team, the artists we work with, and the community that has stood by us.”

Despite the news of the reopening of the centre, the Welcome Home store was not able to survive the prolonged period without footfall.

Until its closure, the store has announced a 25% off sale on its website, to clear remaining stock before the doors are shut permanently.

Locals have been gushing over the “very lovely shop”, with one punter saying it was “great for unique presents or gifts to yourself”, according to .

A third shopper agreed visitors would “always come away with something special”.

The homeware shop isn’t the only recent casualty in Glasgow. Major footwear retailers Size? and Timberland, as well as fashion brand Massimo Dutti all closed in recent months.
