was hit with backlash after she defended transgender athletes competing in female events. During the latest episode of The View, the actress and the rest of the panel were joined by transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney where they discussed biological men who identify as females participating in women’s sports. The debate came after California Governor Gavin Newsom said transgender athletes competing in women’s sports was “deeply unfair”.
Disagreeing with Newsom’s comments, Goldberg, 69, began speaking about the trans community’s struggles when it comes to competing in sports. “Part of the problem the trans community is facing, and it’s the same problem that women face, is if you don’t know anything about our bodies, you don’t know how it works,” she said. “When you come in and you say, these are men competing against women, you’re assuming that the women are weak and just can’t do anything. Have you seen female athletes? They know what they’re doing, so I’m not sure what’s going on or why this is an issue.”

The presenter continued: “And the same applies to athletes born with XY chromosomes which also give them a physiological advantage over biological females. This doesn’t mean I think they should be banned from elite sport altogether. That would be discriminatory.”
