This sensational snap of sunflowers has been judged to be the hottest shot in a photography competition celebrating the best of life through a lens.

Sunkissed Boy by London-based Capri McPherson-Noel bagged first prize with this perfect portrait captured in the UK last year.

Amateur snapper Capri, who wants to take up photography full-time, said: “I wanted to create the connection between humans and nature. The way the sunlight bounces off the sunflowers for growth is similar to the way the sun beams off the model’s skin tone. As humans, we gain energy from the sun, just as the flowers do. I try to see the best in everything and live life to the fullest.”

The London Camera Exchange [LCE], which ran the competition, received 10,000 entries from across the world.

Highlights included Sandip Guha, who captured the courtship of the Crab Spider in a close up called Season of Love shot in Siliguri, West Bengal.

Caroline English shot a remarkable picture called After The Kill representing nature in its purest and rawest form while tracking 11-year-old twin cheetah brothers in Botswana.

And Colin Vanner persevered, patiently trying countless times before capturing this magical action portrait of a cuckoo in flight.

LCE boss Lee Harasyn said: “The calibre of entries was outstanding and thank all the entrants for making our competition such a triumph.”
