has responded after comedian Zoe Lyons turned her appearance on the Scottish star’s eponymous ITV show to discuss her experience with alopecia.
The 53-year-old presenter and stand-up posted a clip to social media and wrote: “Remembering when I flummoxed Lorraine Kelly on national TV.”
In the clip, she re-enacts her encounter with the daytime TV star impersonating Lorraine saying: “‘You’ve been very open about your alopecia’.
“I said, ‘I have Lorraine, yes, because, as we say in the alopecia community, if you haven’t got it, flaunt it’,” she joked. She then recalled her surprise when they broadcast a huge image of her bald head behind her.
“As she was saying, you’ve been very open about your alopecia I realised, it flashed up behind me in the studio, I’m gonna say a 15 foot by 15 foot picture of my bald head! Live on television. I had no idea they were going to do this,” she told the audience.

“Then I could see her looking quite confused,” she continued. “And I could see her eyes darting to the top of my head…
“She turned to me and said ‘your hair looks great today, Zoe’. I said, ‘It’s a wig Lorraine’.
“I could see a little glimmer of panic in her eyes, but the absolute pro this year she just turned back she went, ‘oh that’s a cracker’.”
Lorraine clearly found the clip amusing as she took to the comments on to say: “Love this,” followed by a heart emoji.

Zoe said her first experience of alopecia was when she was around 11 years old and it coincided with her parent’s separation and a stressful relocation from Surrey to Glasgow.
Speaking to in January 2023, she said: “I lost about a third of my hair at that time but my mum got very skilled at covering it with my remaining long hair.
“The only treatment I remember having at the time was some bad smelling shampoo. I don’t know whether that helped, or not, but my hair did regrow after about 18 months and I still remember the relief of seeing the soft fluffy tufts appear.”
After suffering “occassional small patches” Zoe’s alopecia returned in force in 2022 and she told : “I had this monumental breakup and it really went. There’s a bit of you going: ‘It’s only hair and it’s fine’…
“I had to have that conversation with myself: I’m going to have to get a wig. We doubled down on the: ‘Christ, here I am, cliched, middle-aged gameshow host, in a wig’.”
